Kelly Carr is a civil corporate attorney with over two decades of litigation, transactional, corporate dispute, and compliance experience.  She began her career in trial practice at an international law firm and then served in executive leadership as Chief Legal and People Officer at a large private company.  As a result, Kelly is well-versed in many areas of civil law as well as the interplay between those areas.  She has extensive experience in contract negotiation and disputes, risk management, general liability, corporate compliance, business formation and transactions, labor and employment matters, internal investigation, government and regulatory matters, insurance, and products liability, and is particularly experienced in commercial construction.

Throughout her career, Kelly has worked closely not only with leadership but with operational, technical, and support members of businesses to promote risk mitigation, claims avoidance, and dispute resolution - including litigation and alternative dispute resolution - both internally and between businesses.  She couples her law practice with a proven strength in fostering communication and a notable ability to distill issues into manageable, understandable matters leading to efficient and desirable resolutions.

Prior to serving in-house, Kelly litigated a broad range of civil corporate matters in federal and state jurisdictions and alternative dispute resolution for Fortune 100 companies including, among others: securities fraud, shareholder derivative suits, commercial contract disputes, whistleblower suits, employment matters, product, construction, and manufacturing liability claims and torts.  Matters included multi-plaintiff and class actions, representation of boards, auditors, and special committees in internal investigations, and litigation matters related to financially distressed entities. She served public entities, private companies, and key individuals in the construction, technology, health care, aviation, banking, and manufacturing industries.

Kelly is an experienced national speaker-presenter focused on open dialogue and relatable, often humorous, experiences to present sometimes challenging subject matter to audiences and organizations.

From 2018 to 2021, Kelly served on the Board of Directors for the Construction Section of the Texas State Bar and on the Construction Law Foundation Council.  Among other positions, she was privileged to serve on The Hartford’s Construction Advisory Board, and Lockton’s Talent & Culture Advisory Council.  She currently advises a petrochemical engineering firm.  She is a member of the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation.
