Previously at NetApp, Robert served as Senior IP Counsel, leading patent strategy for advanced software, cloud, and data‑management technologies. His work included identifying patentable inventions, shaping long‑term portfolio direction, managing global prosecution, and partnering with product and executive teams to align IP strategy with business goals. He also oversaw outside counsel, guided competitive analysis initiatives, and helped strengthen the company’s position in rapidly evolving technical domains.

Robert’s earlier experience includes significant roles at Perkins Coie LLP, where he managed large domestic and international patent portfolios and contributed to firmwide innovation efforts, including developing internal tools for patent analysis. He also practiced at Faegre & Benson and Setter Roche LLP, gaining broad experience in prosecution, portfolio development, litigation support, and client counseling.
